Well here it is Christmas day 2015 and I finally got off my duff and got the

Alternative Home Building

page up. Thanks to Cemlyn in the UK for letting me know other people do look at this site.

If you have looked at the rest of the site you know that my wife and I have been trying to build an alternative tirebale home out in the woods of the western US for around 13 years (see ).

We are still working on it as time and money become available. In the meantime we have been living in a 200 sq. ft. cabin.

Now don’t think we have done anything amazing by living in this small space for 13 years. I would imagine the majority of the worlds population lives in a space not bigger then this, or much smaller. Which brings me to a point about our plight and maybe the plight of the majority of the people in the world.

When our tirebale home is finished it should be fairly sustainable. It is passive solar with only a wood stove if needed; it is 100% solar electric and off the grid; and all our domestic water heating is from the sun. The one thing that it turned out not to be is affordable, as with most new home construction in the world.

More to come over the next few days. Now I must go plow the 12 inches of snow we got in the last 24 hours.
